Coach Roger Katchuk
Owego Free Academy and Greater Owego Diving Stars Coach
Roger Katchuk has trained swimmers and divers from the
high school to the international level. Since 1980 he has
coached high school sectional champions, record holders and
state meet competitors. He has developed All-American
divers and as head diving coach at Marshall University he
developed 4 NCAA division 1 National Zone qualifiers and
school record holders. G.O.D.S. divers have been prominent
in the AAU with medal winners at the District and AAU
National meet as well as the Empire State Games.

Katchuk was in South East Asia for 6 years initially as Assistant Dean, then Project Director for
the United States Sports Academy’s Sport Education Center and National Swimming coach for the
country of Brunei. There he coached dozens of National record holders. Highlights included
coaching in the Asian Games in Beijing China 1990, the South East Asian Games in Malaysia 1989,
Indonesia 1987 and presenting as a guest lecturer for the Hong Kong Olympic Council.
Also overseas he spent 2 years with The US Sports Academy in Saudi Arabia as Head Swimming &
Diving Coach and Aquatics Director for the Saudi Air force. His programs reached thousands. As an
elite trainer, Coach Katchuk has 11 years of experience personally training members of the Royal
Family of Brunei and a Sheiks Family in Saudi Arabia.
With a Masters degree in Physical Education and Assistant Professor Status with the United
States Sports Academy, Katchuk has experience teaching all levels of athlete. He has published
“Developing Straight Position Required Dives “ for Scholastic Coach magazine and copyrighted “The
Plato Principle.” He is currently a member of the national faculty with The United States Sports
Academy.
As a diver, Coach Katchuk was a 2 time All-American at Fairmont University, a 2 time sectional
high school champion and an Empire State Games finalist. He resides in Tioga County with his wife
Ji and daughter Kaelyn.
Assistant Coach Leanne Kies
Leanne, a SUNY Fredonia diver and Owego Free Academy
alumni will once again assist in the G.O.D.S. summer
program. As an active college diver, Leanne offers a
unique perspective for our club members looking to
advance to the next level.
